The main pulley/indexer allows the lathe to turn using either a low ratio or high ratio. The indexing system provides precise rotational control for decorative work. Utilizing the cold blacking process reduces the risk of rust. If replacing on a Stutey 3040 you will require a 10mm wide 45mm long key. A Stubby lathe will require a step key 5mm to 10mm
